The children helped by Our Little Haven are back in school! Summer is over, and every child being helped by our staff has a full backpack – thanks to everyone who sponsored a backpack and our “Back to School Bash” partner, St. Louis Independent Agents.
To say our “Back to School Bash” was a success would be an understatement. Support came pouring in during our school supplies campaign, Monday, July 23rd to Friday, July 27th. St. Louis Independent Agents made it a very exciting week, offering to match every dollar with actual school supplies for the children we serve. On Friday, July 27th, STLIA dropped off four truckloads of items, varying from notebooks, pencils, and crayons, to backpacks, hand sanitizers, and sanitize wipes. Nothing was forgotten, and every school list was checked off!
Within three days, almost all the school supplies were gone. Our staff was mesmerized by the amount of support that came in during a mere five days. Every child is now prepared for their 2018-2019 school year.
“If you have young children, you know how important it is for them to pick out their own notebooks, folders, etc. You should have seen the options STLIA provided: superheroes, kittens, puppies, you name it! It may seem insignificant to us, but it means a lot to these kids to have school supplies that fit their personalities. Because of STLIA and our community, there is a boy walking into school on his first day, with all the supplies he needs. And guess what, he has the coolest Batman folder in his class.”
